How Does Acupuncture Work?
In simple terms, what the acupuncture needle does when applied to the body is to release certain chemicals that, in turn, have certain beneficial effects on different parts of the body. So far, fourteen channels or ‘meridians’ have been identified running throughout the body in regulated patterns.
These channels conduct the flow of vital energy, or “Qi.” This flow is disrupted or blocked when there is a disease. By inserting needles into the selected points in the channels, the normal flow can be restored, and thus health is brought back to the body.
